Minecraft Skin Lookup

Server admins need UUIDs, not just usernames. Look up any Java player for Mojang UUID, skin preview, and texture download.

Offline-mode servers use different UUIDs. See the Offline UUID Generator.

Why server admins look up skins and UUIDs

Mojang usernames change; UUIDs are permanent. whitelist.json, LuckPerms, CoreProtect, and bans all key on UUID. Skin previews verify you whitelist the right person for staff applications.

Username vs UUID on Minecraft servers

Never ban or whitelist by username alone on online-mode servers — players can change names. Always store UUID. After lookup, paste UUID into whitelist creator or your permissions plugin.

How to use this tool

  1. 1

    Enter the Java Edition username

Type the current Mojang username — not an old alias. Names are 3–16 characters, case-insensitive. Bedrock Gamertags will not resolve here.

  2. 2

    Complete verification and look up

Complete the Turnstile check and click Look up skin. The tool queries Mojang for UUID, skin texture URL, and renders a preview via mc-heads.net.

  3. 3

    Copy UUID or download skin

Copy the UUID for whitelist.json or LuckPerms. Download the PNG skin texture if needed for your server website or staff verification.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a Minecraft player UUID from their username?

Enter the Java username — the tool returns Mojang UUID, skin URL, and preview. UUIDs are required for whitelist.json, permissions, and ban lists.

Why does skin lookup fail for a valid player?

Bedrock-only account, offline-mode username with no Mojang account, typo, or recently changed name still propagating. Must match current Java username.

What is the difference between Java and Bedrock skins?

Java skins are 64×64 PNG on Mojang profiles. Bedrock uses Xbox Live marketplace skins. This tool queries Java Edition profiles via Mojang API.

Can I download a player skin as PNG?

Yes — use the download link for the raw Mojang CDN texture. Preview uses mc-heads.net rendering. Respect Mojang terms and player privacy.

Do offline-mode servers use the same UUID?

No. Offline servers generate UUIDs from username hash. Use the offline UUID generator — Mojang UUIDs from this tool will not match.

How often do skins update after a player changes theirs?

Mojang CDN caches skins. Changes usually appear within minutes but can take up to an hour. Re-lookup to get the latest texture URL.

Can I look up cape textures?

If the player owns a Mojang cape, the tool links to the cape texture URL. Most players do not have capes — only Mojang event or migration capes appear.
